Earth Fair OBX 2012

Earth Fair OBX 2012

Earth Day is one of our favorite days of the year. It gives us a great reason to celebrate the ocean and beaches that we love so much.

Last year we raised money for the local OBX Surfrider chapter. The fund raiser was a big hit, and it was great to hand over a check to a very worthy cause.

While not falling on Earth Day, this year we are focused on the Blue Mind conference that we are bringing to Jennette’s Pier June 4-5. I’ve rambled about Blue Mind quite a bit – with more to come :) – so I’ll let you use the above links to jump over to learn more.

So what’s happening on the OBX to celebrate Earth Day 2012? Like the Blue Mind conference, the perfect local for an earth-friendly celebration on the Outer Banks is Jennette’s Pier. That pier was built with all of the bells and whistles you would hope to find on an ocean-loving pier. And as a result, it’s the perfect spot for Earth Fair OBX on April 22.

2012 Earth Fair OBX

With its theme of “Keeping the Outer Banks Clean and Green,” the first ever Earth Fair OBX is on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

  • Family-friendly Earth Day event
  • Jennette’s Pier, milepost 16.5 in Nags Head, Virginia Dare Trail (a.k.a. the “Beach Road”)
  • 1:00 – 4:00.

Local businesses will be on hand to show how they educate, protect and promote sustainability in the environment and the Outer Banks.  Just a few of the businesses include Outer Banks Catch, Hatteras Recycling Center, OBX Center for Dolphin Research, North Carolina Aquarium at Roanoke Island, NOAA, National Park Service, SPCA, Dare County Soil and Water Conservation, N.E.S.T. and Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehab.
